Andres is a composer based in New York. He’s grown up dividing his musical activities between classical music and vernacular music, developing a love and affinity for each. As a composer, he is interested in exploring his Latin roots, landscape and the natural world, themes of home, and telling stories through multimedia and collaboration. He has been honored with the Long Island Hall of Fame Scholarship, the Marvin Hamlisch Award for Composition, the Gabriel Fontrier Memorial Award, and he was a finalist for the ASCAP Foundation 2022 Morton Gould Young Composer Awards. His music has been performed in the United States, Latin America, Europe, and Australia. He has been commissioned by the American Chamber Ensemble (in collaboration with the Eglevsky Ballet), The John Cranford Adams Playhouse, The Curiosity Cabinet, Camerata (Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra), and was a composition fellow at the Talis Music Festival in Saas-Fee Switzerland.

Andres is also a composer at SOTU STUDIO (Student of the Universe). Founded by Urban Koi, SOTU Studio is an experimental multimedia company born by curiosity, cosmic discovery, and limitless dreams that produces photography and films that artfully connect the realms of health, travel, and space. Through SOTU STUDIOS, Andres has scored original music featured in short films for tech companies Logitech and ASUS.

A pianist and guitarist, Andres is an active performer, working as a soloist and collaborator. He has appeared with the American Chamber Ensemble and has also performed with grammy award winning and nominated Latin jazz artists, such as John Benitez, Roberto Quintero, Valtinho Anastacio and Hector Martignon. He is also the accompanist for the Senior Vocal Ensemble at Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts (conducted by Dennis Creighton); Usdan is an organization dedicated to guiding young children through the exploration of the arts. Andres also enjoys working as a music director/arranger/orchestrator/rehearsal and performing accompanist for musical theater productions. Past shows include: Bye Bye Birdie, Seussical, Guys and Dolls and Yosef.

Andres is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Music at Hofstra University, teaching core music theory, ear training, and group piano classes. He is an ABD PhD Candidate for Music Composition at Rutgers University.
