Andres is a composer based in New York. He’s grown up dividing his musical activities between classical music and vernacular music, developing a love and affinity for each. As a composer, he is dedicated to telling stories, drawing from his Latin roots and exploring ways genres can intersect. He has been honored with the Long Island Hall of Fame Scholarship, the Marvin Hamlisch Award for Composition, the Gabriel Fontrier Memorial Award, and he was a finalist for the ASCAP Foundation 2022 Morton Gould Young Composer Awards. His music has been performed in the United States, Latin America, Europe, and Australia. He has been commissioned by the American Chamber Ensemble (in collaboration with the Eglevsky Ballet), The John Cranford Adams Playhouse, The Curiosity Cabinet, Camerata (Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra), and was a composition fellow at the Talis Music Festival in Saas-Fee Switzerland.

Andres is also a composer at SOTU STUDIO (Student of the Universe). Founded by Urban Koi, SOTU Studio is an experimental multimedia company born by curiosity, cosmic discovery, and limitless dreams that produces photography and films that artfully connect the realms of health, travel, and space. Andres has scored original music featured in short films for tech companies Logitech and ASUS.

As an active pianist and guitarist, Andres performs as a soloist and collaborator. He has appeared with the American Chamber Ensemble, and accompanied the Wyandanch Youth Center Chorus in their inaugural concert, sponsored by Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts. He has also been on staff at Usdan where he helped guide young children through the exploration of the arts. Andres enjoys working as a music director/assistant director/arranger/orchestrator for musical theater productions. Past shows include: Bye Bye Birdie, Seussical, Guys and Dolls and Yosef.

Andres is an adjunct professor of music at Hofstra University, teaching core music theory, ear training, and group piano classes. He will be attending Rutgers University to earn his PhD in Music Composition starting Fall 2023.
